My first blog post:
Taiwan Journal: Day 23
First thing in the morning I woke up and ran to Mommy's room to find Daddy sitting there. We hugged for a long time, and then Cooper came in and repeated what I had just done. Then we gave Daddy his birthday presents. He showed us this cool thing that Gomo got us where it's like virtual reality, like you're really there, and you just have to look into it and you're there. It's so cool, we did one with live dinosaurs! Then, we went out and ate breakfast together, telling each other about our experiences. After that we did math, but I got upset again because algebra with fractions and exponents is, in my opinion, most definitely absolutely positively (I like that phrase these days), NOT sixth grade level, but for ninth graders. Then, we ate lunch and Daddy had his first Chinese lunch in a while, and we went to school. Daddy dropped us off today, and Mommy went as far as outside the building. At school, I had gong fu, AGAIN. I was furious, and especially when I couldn't do the best warm-up stretches because I was wearing a dress! At language, we just did the normal stuff, but the difference was that she didn't tell any jokes today! So we just learned words and read Chinese stories, and that was about it. During the breaks I just read To Kill a Mockingbird- I'm at a really good part about the trial. After school, Daddy's birthday celebration began! We went to ACC, where we just walked around for no reason for a few minutes until Auntie Helen found us and said we should go to the restaurant. So we went to the restaurant, and I went with Mommy to pick up the cake. At dinner, Cooper asked Mommy if he could play on her phone again. Seriously, he's going through what I call the "Phone Phase". Anyway, I was happy because Daddy was back and they had edamame and Popo gave me extra. Mostly because Daddy was back and it was his birthday, though. When I asked if I could sit next to him, Daddy told me, "Sure," but three seconds later Cooper asked Daddy something annoying. No, not the phone thing again, but something else. So, he asked, "Daddy, can you sit there and I sit there? He had asked if Daddy could sit on the end seat, and Cooper next to him. Daddy just gave me "the look". The one where he pretends to be laughing really hard but making no noise, and doing it when Cooper's not looking. Overall, though, the dinner was great and we ate lots. I had udon. After dinner, they brought out the cake! It was a thousand layer one, well, maybe not a thousand, but quite a few. We only ate a little more than half of it, even though Cooper had two enormous slices, and gave the rest to Tsai Shu Shu. When we drove back, Cooper, of course, asked, "Mommy, can I play on your phone?" Mommy told him to ask Daddy since it's his birthday, and Daddy, when he should have said no, said yes, and Cooper was ecstatic. I asked Daddy if we could sleep with him, and he said yes that time too! So, at night, Daddy came in with his shirt off, I think just in underwear, and slept with us. We were apparently such bad sleepers that he had to leave. I think it's because I got up three times for water and Cooper went twice. Anyway, Daddy said he had a great birthday, so today it was mission accomplished!
Taiwan Journal: Day 24
This morning, Mommy woke me up bright and early, around 7:30. We rushed to eat and get ready, met Tsai Shu Shu outside, and went to the train station. Popo was there already. It turned out we were half an hour early, but when we tried to go to the shopping area, we started walking in circles, we even had to go through the gate (you know, the one where you need to scan your ticket) twice! The man that helped us looked at us as if we were crazy. There were ten of us, after all. That train ride was a rough one. At first, I didn't want to do anything, just rest, because I was tired and I might get a headache if I just start reading like that. I sat with the adults. The seats could turn around, so that's what we did. Here's the seating situation: Area 1: I was sitting next to Daddy across from Mommy, diagonal to Popo. Daddy was across from Popo and diagonal to Mommy and next to me. I was farthest from the bathroom, on the window side. Area 2: Matthew was across from Connor, next to Cooper, and diagonal to KK. They were putting headphones on poor Connor. Area 3: I'm not completely sure, but it consisted of Auntie Helen and Uncle Henry. Anyway, I went over to Area 2, the kid area, and Connor sat in between the boys while I sat next to KK. We played Scrabble, and of course, I won. Cooper was on Matthew's team, and KK was by herself, and so was I. It was fun but extremely slow. Then, I felt a headache coming, since I was sitting backwards, and Mommy had come and taken over Connor's spot, so I told her and I went to sit sitting forwards next to Daddy. This time he got the window. We put up the armrest, and Auntie Helen brought over Clancy, who had been cuddling with Connor. I cuddled with him a bit, and then came the disastrous part. I told Daddy, "I think I-I'm g-g-going to th-th-throw up," in a voice that sounded like I did. I managed to get one shoe on. I was not feeling well at all. So halfway to the bathroom I had a little accident, some of it came out, and I was covering my mouth with my hands, which propelled it all over my face, so you can just imagine what happened what that happened right outside the bathroom but on a much larger scale. Yes, it was all over my hair, my face, my hands, and my shirt. First, I went to the bathroom to just wash my face a bit. Then I came out and my shoe was missing. I told Cooper, "I just threw up. Give me my shoe back." And my shoe appeared right in front of me. I ALWAYS know when that kid is up to something. After washing my hair (I had to bend over the tiny sink and wash it practically strand by strand) and my hands and changing shirts, I went back, and Auntie Helen gave me a mint that helped a lot. I watched the boys play with a toy where you blow it and it spins, and then we were in Tai dong, but most people spell it Taitung, after I read a bit. When we got there, there was already a bus waiting for us, and we went to pick up lunch, bento boxes with some rice and meat and veggies, and went to the hotel. It's called Papago International Resort. It wasn't check in time yet, so we went down a flight of stairs and ate lunch. When we went back up, we got a tour of the place, and went to our "room". It was 809, and it wasn't a room. It was a house. There are two floors, a bedroom, two bathrooms, a dining table, kitchen, and a living room(couches), on first floor and a bedroom, bathroom, and some space with mattresses on floor two. Popo, of course, stayed with us and got the big room. Oh, I forgot to mention, Popo paid for all of it too. And it was a lot of money, even if she did get half price. Also, we have a backyard and pool that has a fountain! It's amazing here. When we got to the villa, Cooper and I hopped in the pool, checked out the fountain, I complained that it was cold, and Cooper complained that I was covered in throw up. Then we checked out the "deep" end, which was no more than four feet. While we were in there, Daddy came out and said he was "getting hot, so it was feel better when he jumped in the pool". I did have a reason for complaining that it was cold, you know. Anyway, after that, we went to take a shower and went biking with the rest of our group. There were a lot of people doing it, since it's included with the room. It was so fun, but so short. When we got there, I hopped around trying not to let the mosquitoes bite me as the guy talked about farming rice in Chinese for twenty minutes. I was so bored. Then we got to try this machine. The guy told us there are only ten left in Taiwan, it's expensive to make. We tried it. It was HARD. But everyone else except Cooper made it look easy! I think it's the height, everyone else were adults. We biked back, and then went our own bike ride. It was fun, and we could look at the rice growing in the water, so once when I was doing that, I almost ran into a guy going the other way, and Daddy is still making fun of me. When we got somewhere, we saw a tree. A woman told us it was a famous tree. Apparently a movie star came and filmed a commercial next to that tree. Once, when it fell down, they propped it back up. It was hilarious. We went back, ate dinner at a buffet, and I ate a ton. Then we played a little keep away with Daddy, Cooper, and Matthew on a field near our house, and went to bed.
